The Best & the Brightest (3)

Today is the end of the working days of this year for Enbridge and me.
A year has passed very fast.
Do you have any special plan for the winter holidays?

Many people visit various sight-seeing places during the holidays.
In those places, there are some treasures, historic spots, which a great person created.
The best and the brightest may not leave any comemorative item which their posperity (we) can see.
However, their performance has been inscribed in the history.
Every great hero in our history thought and perform together with the best and the brightest.
Then, those heros can inscribe their achievement in the history; that is, for example, as a momument.
Building a great momument is not our goal.
Our goal is, I believe, that our talents and skills can be made a contribution to our society or to the world.
Then, as a result, I hope that our posperity can feel what we acomplished for their period (future).
That is treasure.
If, in this winter holidays, you have chance to visit to a place where a hero and the best and the brightest left the historical event, please feel the time which they lived and enjoy the history.
I hope we can sbout together, "A Happy New Year!" when the door of the new start is opened.

本日は、私の、そして Enbridge の、仕事納です。
一年が過ぎるのはとても早いですね。
みなさんは、この冬休みに何か素敵な計画を立てていますか？
多くの人は、お休みにいろいろな観光地を訪れます。
それらの観光地には、偉人が作り上げた宝（史跡）があったりします。
『ベスト＆ブライテスト（最良で聡明な人々）』は、彼らの子孫(私たち）が見ることができる記念物を残すことはないかもしれません。
しかし、彼らの行動は、歴史に刻まれています。
歴史上のどの偉人も『ベスト＆ブライテスト（最良で聡明な人々）』と共に考え、行動してきました。
だから、彼らが貢献したことを歴史に刻むことができたのです。（要するに、例えばモニュメントとして）
偉大なるモニュメントを築くことが、私たちのゴールではありません。
私たちのゴールは、私たちの才能やスキルをもって、社会、あるいは世界に貢献できることだと思います。
そして結果として、私たちの子孫が、私たちが何を成し遂げたのかを感じてくれることを願っています。
それこそが、宝ですよね。
みなさんが、もしもこの冬休みに偉人と『ベスト＆ブライテスト（最良で聡明な人々）』が歴史的イベントを残した場所に訪れる機会があるのであれば、どうか彼らが生きた時代を感じ、歴史を楽しんでみてください。
新しい年への扉が開かれたとき、一緒に『明けましておめでとう！』と叫ぶことができることを願っております。
